Economic Development Officer
Woodlands County is seeking a self-motivated, independent and experienced Economic Development Officer to develop, implement and evaluate the Woodlands County Economic Development and Tourism programs, events and initiatives as well as external and internal marketing.
The ideal candidate is a creative, innovative and self-motivated individual who must work well with an Economic Development Committee, Council and the Chief Administrative Officer to market, undertake research, and deliver tangible economic development solutions that will drive the County forward.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Economic Development Officer (EDO) will be responsible to provide advice to the Economic Development Committee, Council and the Chief Administrative Officer on all matters identified in the Strategic Plan. The Economic Development Officer will assist with the County’s website, social media presence and content, and undertake the bi-annual newsletter. The EDO will develop relationships with the industry sectors and advocate on behalf of the local business community. Working with the Whitecourt Woodlands Tourism committee, the EDO will support tourism business by developing capacity to respond to tourism opportunities. The ideal candidate will provide a best-practices approach in delivering a regional economic plan with relevant government departments, public agencies and associated economic and development groups.
The ideal Economic Development Officer candidate must demonstrate knowledge in a wide variety of qualifications including project management, collaboration and interpersonal skills, strong marketing practices and experience working in a municipal setting. An Economic Development designation or certification with three to five year experience is required.
Remuneration will commensurate with experience, knowledge and abilities. Woodlands County also provides a comprehensive benefits package.
