Residents can sign up to receive emergency alerts through BARCC Connect which is updated using information from Canada's Alert Ready emergency alert system. The alert system provide residents with critical information on emergencies, crime, road construction and service interruptions. Notifications can be received through text, email and voice call.
Emergency alerts are also available through the Alberta Emergency Alert system. Residents can sign up to receive information through text message or they can download the Alberta Emergency Alert app on their mobile devices.
Preparing for an Emergency
Are you ready for an emergency? Fires, floods and other disasters can happen at any time with little or no warning. Residents can prepare themselves ahead of time by creating an emergency plan and building an emergency kit.
Disaster Financial Support
The Government of Alberta provides financial assistance to homeowners, tenants and small businesses that experience uninsurable loss or damage caused by a disaster or emergency. Once a municipality has been approved for the Disaster Recovery Program, residents can send in an application to the Alberta Emergency Management Agency within 90 days of the approval.
