Transfer Stations

Operation of Transfer Stations


Policy 4301 to establish rules and regulations for the operation of transfer stations within Woodlands County.

Site ID cards must be shown to the transfer site operator prior to obtaining access to the site.


Replacement cards can be obtained by calling 1-888-870-6315.

Sand is available at the Woodlands County Municipal Office in Whitecourt and all County transfer sites for residents use during the winter. 


Effective November 1, 2024, transfer stations will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am - 4 pm year-round. Please note that there are new guidelines for the Take-It-Or-Leave-It areas at the transfer station sites. Any items left in the areas must be in good condition and site attendants have final discretion regarding which items are accepted or refused. Any material placed in the municipal solid waste bins, metal site, appliance site, tire area, or wood areas may not be transferred to the Take-It-Or-Leave-It area.

Some items that will not be accepted in the Take-It-Or-Leave-It area include but are not limited to:

  • Air Conditioners
  • Bedding including Pillows
  • Car Seats and Cribs
  • Clothing and Footwear
  • Construction Debris
  • Furniture
  • Hairbrushes and Combs
  • Hazardous Materials or Products
  • Helmets
  • Large Appliances
  • Mattresses
  • Opened Hygiene and Body Products
  • Protective Gear/Under Clothing
